montleARTISTS

Whether it's the quiet, green surroundings, the turn-of-the-century villa with its own history, the residents of the neighboring houses, or the other artists – the Montleart Residency is full of potential inspiration.

Here, our alumni share their very personal stories.

June 2024 - January 2025

The location and the spaces have allowed me to gain a new perspective on everyday Viennese life. As already described in art and literature, working creatively in a Gründerzeit villa is a unique and inspiring challenge. I am very happy and grateful to have had this opportunity at the Montleart Residency – a wonderful project that I look forward to supporting and helping shape in the future. The Montleart Residency offers me a unique and inspiring experience.

September 2025

We were in Vienna for Vienna Design Week, where we implemented our project STADTSTEMPEL as part of the urban work program. From our base on Montleartstraße, we created a formal archive in public space, developed concepts, and prepared workshops and exhibitions. The residency offered us space to arrive, organize our work, and recharge – allowing for an intensive immersion in the surfaces, moods, and people of this city.

October 2022 – January 2023

I applied for the residency together with my husband, the artist Danylo Kovach, and our three-month-old son. I remember this time with warmth and special tenderness -- as a new mother, my life had changed completely, and the residency helped me to relax and open a new creative chapter. I really enjoyed our group-- we lived together with three other Ukrainian artists. During my stay I created many works on paper and several large paintings on canvas. The atmosphere of the house was inspiring and magical. I would love to repeat this experience one day.
